Not a Plan to Avoid WW3

LA Johnson, Artist

Many of you have been on this journey with me from the beginning, and remember my first post— The Unintended Consequences of Buying a Rolex. As you read this, note that less time separates you from Election Day, than from that post last February.

The Iowa caucuses are in less than 1 month. After that, a state, district, or territory will vote every week until June 6th. One month after that, the Democrats and then the Republicans will nominate their candidates for president.

The first Presidential debate is September 29th, followed by the Vice Presidential debate on October 7th, and the final two Presidential debates on October 15th and 22nd.

By then, early voting and vote by mail would have begun in some states.

Election Day is November 3, 2020.

There are a few things I recommended you do to prepare:

  • See when your state is voting.
    1. Democrats Abroad— March 3rd (Super Tuesday)
    2. California — March 3rd (Super Tuesday)
    3. Massachusetts— March 3rd (Super Tuesday)
    4. Texas— March 3rd (Super Tuesday)
    5. Washington State — March 10th
    6. Florida — March 17th
    7. Georgia — March 24th
    8. New York — April 28th
  • Check your voter registration by clicking here.
  • You might need to update your voter registration, or re-register entirely, if:
    1. You haven’t voted recently
    2. Your name has changed
    3. Your address has changed
    4. Your signature has changed
    5. Your party affiliation has changed

Visit your county’s Supervisor of Elections website to see the specific rules and processes.

  • Understand what your voting options are— in person on Election Day, by mail, or early vote— and what you have to do to sign up. You might find that there is a more convenient option than the one you typically default to. In America, you cannot vote online or on an app.
  • Call, text, and forward this email to a friend to make sure they’re informed and ready too! (Yes, #Commit2Five is coming back; but I’m still working on it.)

Change only happens when we work together, and that’s what I’d like to do. If you’re interested in collaborating, chatting, or need to ask any questions (I can’t promise I can answer everything!) simply reply to this email, and we’ll take it from there.

Every outcome is still possible, and we have to start working diligently now if we want our preferred version to prevail.

Thanks for reading— more soon!
